Lessons Learned from the December 2007 Ice Storm

Severe Weather Reminders

1. All stations should review the ERCRC EOP and repeater guidelines for severe weather operation.
2. Check to be sure the ERCRC simplex frequency of 146.580 MHz.is programmed into your radios.
3.
Do not report:
Hail smaller than quarter size to the Net, EOC or NWS.
There is no need for negative reports such as; "it's not raining here"
4.
Do report:  Water over the roadway,
                 Significant cloud to ground lightning,
                 Hail quarter size or larger,
Funnel clouds, Tornados and rotating wall clouds.
5.
Remember; it is a funnel cloud until it reaches the ground then it becomes a tornado.
If it isn't rotating it isn't a tornado.  Watch for a debris cloud.
