Emergency Radio Club Of Reno County

Minutes of 14 March, 2006  Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Scott Neher, KCØBHE.

In attendance were Scott KCØBHE, Tom WØUY, Bill KCØVBF, Dwayne KBØFJI, Vivian, NØLQE, Tim KA4CKR, Larry KØSFV, Jeff NØVIB, and Zach WØZC. Also attending were Joyce Mock, Mr. and Mrs. Graber who are studying to become hams.

Field Day was the main topic of discussion. Tom told us of some ideas he was working on. The plan is to use a portion of the Kansas State Fairgrounds. There might be an issue with our insurance coverage not being enough to suit the KSF board. Bill was to check on that with the Fair staff. Tom showed us the logging program he will be using. We also discussed alternate locations in case we cannot get agreement with the fairgrounds. Two other locations discussed is the parking lot across from the Law Enforcement Center, and the old fire station on 4th at Wilshire.

Weather Spotter training will be March 20th, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the Cosmosphere. All were encouraged to attend.

Dwayne showed a videotape of the Hesston tornado as an anniversary and remembrance since Monday was the 16th Anniversary of the event. It was March 13th, 1990 when the tornado started near Haven, became an F5 rapidly, killed a child in Burrton, leveled most of Hesston, killing one, and roping out, only to become a satellite tornado to the F5 that struck Goessel, Kansas.

The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting would be 09 May 2006.
