Meeting Minutes For November 8, 2005

Emergency Radio Club
Of Reno County

Membership Meeting
08 November 2005

The meeting was called to order by President Scott Neher, KCØBHE.

In attendance were Scott KCØBHE, Tom WØUY, Bill KCØVBF, Dwayne KBØFJI, Vivian NØLQE, Jeff KCØRWI, Tim KA4CKR, Larry KØSVF, and Zach WØZC.

Tom began a discussion on Tactical Callsigns for use during emergency communications operations. The issues discussed were using names such as AIRPORT TEAM, BUHLER HIGH, ICP (incident command post), and EOC (emergency operations center) during emergency communications. It was mentioned that even while using these tactical designators, amateurs would still need to identify every ten minutes and/or at the end of traffic by their FCC Callsign to comply with Part 97. Tom brought up the website and encouraged everyone to visit the site and send him things to add to or enhance the site.

A general discussion of recent disasters in Reno County followed.

Bill suggested we run some form of communications exercise. The consensus was that we wait until after the first of the year.

There was a discussion on antennas and portable towers to add to the command trailer. Several ideas were mentioned and discussed.

The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting would be January 10, 2006.
