Minutes of 01 November 2007 Meeting

In attendance were Tim KA4CKR, Scott KCØBHE, Larry KØSFV, Jake KBØZIA, Dwayne KBØFJI, Vivian NØLQE, Bill KCØVBF Tom WØUY

Secretary Tim KA4CKR called meeting to order. President Scott KCØBHE and Vice-President Bill KCØVBF were late to the meeting due to prior obligations with Red Cross.

Tim read the minutes of the very first ERCRC meeting from November 8^th, 2005. It was fun to see how far we have come and to notice that things were mentioned that were never followed up. We discussed the possibility of following up with a push-up mast for the command trailer.

            Tim mentioned that the EOC antenna that had been damaged which we discovered at the previous meeting had been repaired and remarked that almost everyone in the meeting assisted with that repair.

            Tim began a discussion on the SET Exercise After-Action Report and the list of lessons learned. The entire list and AAR is on the website under the SET exercise page. During this discussion, the idea of an antenna party was mentioned. This would be a club gathering where we would build several wire antennae for the club as well as any club members who were in need of an antenna at home. We thought that this winter or early spring would be a good time to do this.

            Also discussed was the fact that we all need to have our jump-kits, go-bags, jump radio boxes and related items ready to go. The main theme was that we don’t know when we may get a request to respond (either in our own area or to another location like Greensburg) to assist with radio communications. Further, we don’t know if we will be provided with food, shelter, power, bedding, etc. We need to always be prepared to go. It was noted that Dwayne KBØFJI and Lyle KCØZFM were on their way to Greensburg a little more than an hour after the request. They were there for three days before coming back home to resupply and return. A list of suggested items to take along to a disaster deployment are on the website under emergency preparedness.
