 Minutes of 12 September 2006 Meeting

The September meeting was held in conjunction with the Reno County Kansas Amateur Radio Association.  The meeting was called to order by RCARA  President Dwayne KBØFJI at 19:00 hours. 

Emergency Radio Club members present were; Dwayne KBØFJI,  Vivian NØLQE, , Larry KØSFV,  Scott KCØBHE, Jeff KCØRWI, Tom WØUY, Charles KBØSQL .

RCKARA members present were; Raymond KCØWPJ, Beth KC0WPI, Charley KCØWPK, Duwayne NØVID, Zack WØZC, Earl WØFXL.

Bill KCØVBF and Tim KA4CKR were attending Kansas Emergency Management Association conference being held this week in Hayes, Kansas.

Tom, WØUY presented information on the ARRL SET exercise scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2006.  Discussion included making plans to include the ERCRC by activating WBØEOC and a station at the American Red Cross building to test simplex capabilities of VHF stations in the event repeater operation is lost during an emergency.  Discussion followed about sending messages through state nets to Kansas ARRL officials as part of the exercise.

Dwayne, KBØFJI ask if this exercise coincided with the Reno County exercise.  It will not this year, but could be planned to do so in 2007.

State Fair "Band Days" communications was discussed.  This is a good exercise to check out the completeness of a 24 hour Go Bag.  The final day of providing communications for this years State Fair event is September 13.  More than 60 bands are expected to march on that day.  The activity is being coordinated by Dwayne, KBØFJI.  ERCRC members who helped during the week are KBØFJI, NØLQE, KBØSQL, KØSFV and WØUY.
