Prior to the meeting start, a group of members ascended to the roof of the EOC to repair/replace a broken guy line on the HF vertical. In the course of this work a section of the antenna was found to be bent at a bad angle. The antenna was removed to minimize damage to the rest of the antenna and the damaged part would be ordered from GAP.

The meeting was finally called to order at 1925 hours local time by President Scott, KC0BHE. The floor was turned over to Tom, W0UY but Tom yielded the floor to Tim, KA4CKR.

Tim told members a little more about the upcoming SET exercise, which is scheduled for September 29th and 30th, 2007 to coincide with the Texas QSO Party. Tim also told that the CERT picnic at Carey Park was set for the same day, as well as the estate sale of George, W5TOQ (SK). He explained that once the station was established and the schedule had been worked out, there would only need to be one or two persons at a time at the station location and members could attend those other events. More information about this exercise is available at www.wb0eoc.org

Tom then demonstrated and gave a class session on the Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V Field HF radio that would be used in the exercise. This is the same radio that has been used for the last two years for Field Day and belongs to Emergency Management. Members were offered hands-on demonstration of the rig after the class session.
