Digital Technology
For Emergency Communications
The ARRL has announced a new CD based self study course dealing with digital modes for Emergency Communications. This is not an online class. Cost of the CD is $49.95.
According to the ARRL, this course "will introduce hams to all of the ways Amateur Radio operators are using digital technology as a valuable emergency communications tool".

K-Link
Repeater System

The Sterling 440 MHz repeater has been added to the K-Link repeater system in Kansas.  Information about these 13 linked repeaters in Kansas is available at the K-Link web site.  Thanks to W1SBY for providing this information.
Slow Speed CW W1AW slow speed code practice 7 times a week.
Speeds begin at 5 words per minute.  W1AW CW Practice Schedule.

2008 Field Day Results

2008 Field Day Results Are On The ARRL Members Pages. 

WØWR placed 3rd in Kansas behind WØICT and WS4Y and 48th over all in the 1A category.

Good Job RCKARA and ERCRC Members. 

Radio In The
Park

The inaugural ERCRC "Radio In The Park" (RITP) was attended by 11 area hams Saturday November 1.
Everyone agreed it was a lot of fun on a beautiful November day.
There were 5 stations on the air with PSK, FM, SSB and CW.
Next RITP will be held in March of 2009, exact date to be announced. 
Make plans now to attend.
